A Lesson in Protection
I was once asked to deliver a lecture before a group of women. I agreed. When I arrived at the venue, I was met with a surprise. Instead of the anticipated fifty women, approximately five hundred filled the room. They sat patiently, waiting for me to begin.
For a moment, I was weak in the knees. I felt such confusion that I wanted nothing more than to go home and avoid all forms of challenges vis-à-vis gazing at strange women. But then I shook off such thoughts. I had come to offer words of chizuk and inspiration. Surely I would merit Hashem’s help in protecting my eyes from improper sights, chas v’shalom.
I thought it would be a good idea to keep my eyes closed throughout the lecture. I did this and literally felt Hashem at my side, shielding me from the wiles of the Yetzer Hara
