The Jew and His Faith – A Winning Combination
In 2002, the world-wide soccer games took place for the World Cup. This game is a pursuit of foolishness, not fitting for a Torah-observer. But I feel that everything in this world has a lesson to teach. Even the game of soccer can score a point for the Torah-based home team.
While the players were prepping up for the big game, rumors were spreading about who would earn the treasured Cup. Nobody invested much hope in Italy or France, as they had not proven themselves in the previous games. In spite of these gloomy predictions, these two countries’ players did not give up. They exercised without letup and did their best to prove their mettle.
In contrast but in a similar vein, when a Jew confronts a challenge which seems to be insurmountable, he should not throw in the towel. Rather, he should strengthen his faith in Hashem, the Cause of everything in this world. It is only He Who decides what will be. One should never despair of meriting Hashem’s miracles, just as He performed them for Klal Yisrael throughout the generations.
Yesterday, the Tzadik Rabbi David Pinto shlitah gave a shiur in the city of Modiin, in the presence of the city's Rabbi, Harav Eliyahou Amar shlita , to strengthen people in Torah, Emunah, and Yirat Shamayim.
