A cousin of my wife was diagnosed with cancer. He was at an advanced stage, and according to the laws of nature, the doctors did not give him more than a month to live. When he heard this, he wept copiously and lamented his bitter fate. When we met, he asked that I pray for his recovery. My wife was also distressed by this. We decided to pray together for his recovery, in the merit of my forefathers.
A few nights later, the man had a dream. Men dressed in white flanked him on both sides. Suddenly, the one on his right placed a clock before him, indicating he had only a short time left to live. Then the one on the left asked the man, “How did you get here? Did anyone escort you?”
In his dream, he replied, “My cousin, wife of Rabbi David Pinto, shlita, brought me here. She and her husband are praying fervently for my recovery, in the merit of the tzaddikim of the Pinto dynasty.”
When the men in white heard this, they were shaken into action. The one who had the clock replaced it with another one, indicating longevity.
The man woke up visibly shaken. He went straight to the hospital to do more testing. The doctors were surprised to see that the test results came back clear, defying all logic. The man related his dream and thereby caused a great kiddush Hashem.
I have no doubt that the prayers offered for this man, together with the merit of my fathers, stood by his side and granted him complete recovery.
