The Joy of Novelty
One Friday, I was enmeshed in a serious financial problem which gave me no rest. I had no idea how I would extricate myself from it. In order to retain my sanity, I decided to take a break and visit the Beit Hamidrash. Immersing myself in the parashat hashevuah would surely do me some good. Baruch Hashem, I merited gleaning new insights into the parashah, and I became filled with inner joy. I completely forgot my former worry.
When I returned home, my family immediately noticed the great happiness on my face. They were certain I had found a resolution to my problem. When they asked me about my problem, I suddenly remembered it.
I told them that my happiness did not come from a resolution of my problem, but from the novel interpretations I had succeeded in discovering while learning Torah.
