Wrong Number, Right Message

Wrong Number, Right Message

R’ Daniel Afriat always takes care of the grave of my grandfather, Rabbi Chaim Pinto, in Morocco. He does this with extreme devotion. May Hashem repay him appropriately.

I once needed to speak to him. By mistake, I dialed the wrong number and ended up reaching Rav Daniel Peretz, shlita, his father-in-law. As soon as he answered the phone, I realized my mistake. I don’t know why, but I offered him a complete recovery. I blessed him that the merit of the Torah and my holy fathers should protect him.

Bewildered at my blessing, coming unsolicited as it did, Rav Daniel began having qualms about his state of health. He did some tests and was shocked to find that he had cancer of the kidney and would need one kidney removed.

Remembering my berachah, he placed all his faith in Hashem, Who is the ultimate Doctor.

In the merit of his faith, the next x-rays showed that his kidneys had completely healed.

Hearing this story filled me with awe at Hashem’s hashgachah pratit. A Heavenly hand guided my fingers to the phone number of Rav Daniel Peretz, in order that he receive my blessing and merit recovery.
