The Unwieldy Umbrella
In the large Beit Hakeneset Buffault, in Paris, there are two floors for the women’s gallery, one above the other.
During one of my lectures in this synagogue, the place was packed, including the ladies’ section.
Suddenly, a woman from the upper level lost hold of her very heavy umbrella. It began sailing through the air, landing squarely on the lower level of the women’s section. It fell between two women, landing smack at their feet.

A hubbub ensued. It was truly a miracle that the heavy, weighty umbrella did not fall a centimeter to the right or the left. Had it struck one of the women on the head, she would have been badly hurt, rachmana litzlan.
Everyone clearly saw hashgachah pratit at work. No one could ascribe the miracle to mere coincidence.
