Teshuvah Bears Fruit

A woman once approached me for my blessing. She had been diagnosed with a malignant growth.

“Are you prepared to accept mitzvot upon yourself?” I asked.

She answered that in order to recover, she would do anything. I took a fruit from the table and told her to eat it. In the merit of her teshuvah, she would be completely cured. She did as I said. When she went for re-testing, there was no reminder of her previous illness.

It was not the fruit, but the power of her teshuvah which effected her cure. By accepting upon herself the yoke of mitzvot, she drew down Heavenly mercy for a complete recovery.
