Sought-after Merchandise

Sought-after Merchandise

On one of my visits to the holy gravesites in Europe, as I approached the grave of the Ba’al Shem Tov, zy”a, I met my old friend, R’ Povarsky, shlita.

  1. At the grave of the Ba’al Shem Tov Hakadosh, zy”a

This man merited rising literally from rags to riches. He began his career as a football player. When spiritual yearnings kicked in, he pursued the field of sanctity and became a complete G-d-fearing Jew, who brings others back to teshuvah, as well. He is involved in exporting merchandise to various countries.

Many years previously, this friend had asked for my advice. All of the merchandise which came from his factory was found to be damaged, as the color of the goods was not accurate. He was afraid that if he would ignore this defect, his good name would be stained. But if he would retain the merchandise, he would suffer a financial setback, which might even cause him bankruptcy.

I felt bad about the damaged goods. But I encouraged him by saying, “If your trust in Hashem is stalwart, you can rest assured that even the damaged items will find favor with their buyers, like Grade A merchandise. Go and sell it as you always do, and B’ezrat Hashem, you will see blessing in your venture, in the merit of my holy ancestors.”

This was exactly what happened. The merchandise was sent abroad. Not only were the distributors satisfied with the merchandise, they asked for more of this run.

There is no doubt that Hashem blessed the business of R’ Povarsky in the merit of his faith. He believed fully that Hashem acts above the natural order, and can support a person in a supernatural way.
