Music to My Ears

Music to My Ears

From when I was a young boy, I always remembered Father’s constant refrain, “B’ezrat Hashem.” These words, said in his pleasant tone of voice, in Arabic, continue to ring in my ears to this day. Such is the power of hearing.

Words which are heard at a very young age, when the heart is yet malleable, are extremely powerful, remaining with a person throughout his life.

Similarly, I recall Father sighing at the world situation, saying, “Men of faith are gone.” But immediately, he would dismiss his previous words and replace them with, “No, it is not true. Men of faith continue to live by their faith.” He would then rise up like a lion to do his task of serving Hashem.

Father illustrated the saying regarding the virtuous: “Tzaddikim live by the power of their deeds.” Their prayers and invocations of Hashem’s Name rectify the ills of the generation that disregards His Presence.
