Listening to His Messages
When I was in New York, I was notified about a man who had cancer in his head. The doctors predicted that he had very little time left. I was terribly aggrieved at this man’s terrible situation. I realized that only teshuvah and mitzvah observance could save him.
I called him up with the intention of encouraging him to become more involved in Torah and mitzvot. But the man did not answer my call. I left him a message on his answering machine, inspiring him to undertake serious resolutions in Torah and mitzvot as merits to sway the scales in his favor.
Some time later, the man heard my words and took them very much to heart. He reinforced his level of mitzvah observance and became stronger in yirat Shamayim.
After some time, his body began showing signs of improvement. The disease finally disappeared as if it was never there. His doctors were in utter shock at the miracle which took place before their eyes. They were incredulous at the complete turnabout in this man’s condition.
To this day, when people see this man in the street, a veritable walking miracle, they are taken aback by the beauty of his looks and his beautiful deeds. They call out, “How great are Your works, Hashem.”
