Firm Faith

Firm Faith

A woman from France suffered for a long time from severe pains throughout her body. She called me up, asking that I bless her with a speedy recovery. I suggested that she be examined by a doctor, but she replied that she didn’t have money to pay his fees. I offered to help with payment, but she was adamant in her refusal to see a doctor.

“Rabbi David, I am not interested in doctors or their fees. All I ask is your berachah, in the merit of your holy fathers, to grant me a complete recovery.”

When I saw her perfect faith, I was sure that a blessing in the merit of my forefathers would surely be effective. If she preferred a blessing over medical treatment, her faith was certainly staunch.

I blessed her with all my heart and prayed for her recovery. Baruch Hashem, her pains subsided and finally left completely, without the intervention of a doctor.

Hashem wants our perfect faith. When we are completely reliant upon Him, the gates of Heaven are open to receive our prayers and supplications.
