Driving Home My Message
As I was once driving with my children through the city traffic, I had a fantastic opportunity to teach them a Torah lesson. As noise and tumult raged in the streets, our car was a cocoon of spirituality. My children and I were blessedly unaware of the goings-on as we listened to a recording of a Torah lecture.
When we reached our destination, I turned to my children and lovingly related that by listening to the lecture, we had brought tremendous satisfaction to Hashem. He was very pleased that although the street was filled with interesting sights, we concentrated our efforts on hearing words of Torah and kedushah.
When a Jew makes the effort to learn Torah and do mitzvot in spite of the allures of the outside world, he brings Hashem great pleasure and earns great reward in the World to Come.
