A Blessing in Triplicate
I was once asked if I was related to the famous Pinto family. I replied in the affirmative. The man went on to say that one of the later Pinto rabbanim, he was not sure which, had blessed his brother that if he observed mitzvot punctiliously, he would merit having children.
The man excitedly continued, “My brother reinforced his level of mitzvah observance, and he merited not one, but three children, may they increase.”
Then I remembered blessing his brother. I promised the man that I would relay the incident to Rav Pinto.
Obviously, I would not take the credit for this tremendous miracle. The blessing was effective in the merit of the father’s resolution to accept Torah and mitzvot, and in the merit of his pure faith in the merit of my holy ancestors, zy”a.
