A Beautiful Baby Boy

A Beautiful Baby Boy

At the end of August, 1994, when Rabbi David Chananya, shlita, was in Eretz Yisrael, he phoned his secretary R’ Marciano, in Paris, and informed him that his wife was expecting a boy, and he would be the sandak at the brit.

R’ Marciano told his wife, and the couple was extremely excited at the good news. They had not had children for a few years, and had hoped to be blessed with a boy.

A few weeks later, R’ Marciano traveled to the hilula of Rabbi Chaim Pinto, zy”a, in Morocco. His wife decided to surprise him by having an ultrasound to confirm that she was pregnant. The positive results augmented their great joy.

In the third month of her pregnancy, Mrs. Marciano had a routine ultrasound. She was told that the child she was bearing was a girl. She was disappointed. However, she told the technician that this could not be the case: the Rav had promised her a son, and she had firm faith in his words.

She waited with bated breath for the next ultrasound, in the fifth month. Again, she was informed that she was carrying a girl. She left the doctor’s office in tears, but still held fast to her faith in the words of the Rav. She thought there must be some mistake.

She phoned the ultrasound technician and asked her to check again. The technician was angry. She told Mrs. Marciano that she had been working for fifteen years in this field and had never made a mistake. But she had pity on Mrs. Marciano and, since the next appointment had been cancelled, she agreed to do the test again.

Wonder of wonders, the third ultrasound told the truth: Mrs. Marciano was expecting a boy. The technician declared, “Tell your Rabbi that he is very great!”

The brit of baby Eliyahu Tzion was held on the 26th Nissan, and Rabbi David, shlita, was the sandek.

When a Jew believes in Hashem with perfect faith that something will take place, Hashem acts according to his faith and desire.
