Serving Hashem – A Full-time Job

Serving Hashem – A Full-time Job

I once knew a cardiologist who spent a long time looking for a suitable place to work. After five years, he found the right place. With great relief and thanksgiving, he arranged a seudat hodayah to express his gratitude to Hashem for His help. But within a few days, he was notified that one of the conditions of this job was that he work on Shabbat. Since for him, this was not an option, he gave it all up and started to look for another position.

This man is truly called a lover of Hashem. A person who can forego his personal pleasures and comforts in order to do Hashem’s will is one who truly loves Hashem. How can an earthly salary compare with the spiritual reward reserved for him in the World to Come?!
