The Youthful Elderly
When I was visiting a cemetery in Eretz Yisrael, I noticed an elderly woman waving her cane at me in a gesture of asking me to wait a moment. I understood that she either wanted to speak with me, or ask for a blessing in the merit of my holy ancestors, zy”a.
When I observed her obvious exertion to walk toward me, I began to come toward her to make it easier. When I reached her, I blessed her with all things good. Afterward, I thought to myself, “In the merit of this woman’s alacrity, she merited a Heavenly blessing.”
With the quality of alacrity, we, too, can merit great things. If we invest our efforts in the right places, we will reap Heavenly dividends!
