Filled with Torah

Filled with Torah

Every Shabbat, a prominent Rabbanit in chutz la’aretz delivered shiurim to the women. Although this Rabbanit had been married for over fifteen years, she did not have children. This distressed her greatly.

She once came to me, and weeping pitifully, begged to be granted a child of her own. I took a Sefer Tehillim which was lying on the desk and instructed her to open it to any page. She did as I told her.

I put my finger on a pasuk which appeared there, and read (Tehillim 40:9), “To fulfill Your will, O G-d, do I desire, and Your Torah is in my innards.”

Turning to the woman, I said, “If you desire to have healthy children, you must strengthen your faith. Additionally, encourage your husband to add more hours to his Torah learning. Only in the merit of filling yourselves with Torah will you have children.
