A Blessed Discovery
Among those who participated in the hilula of the tzaddik, Rabbi Chaim Pinto, zy”a, was Mrs. Bitton. She also joined us as we made our way to his grave. There, I blessed each person according to his request, including Mrs. Bitton.
As we were leaving the structure in which the grave stands, I noticed her standing off to the side. For some inexplicable reason, I called her back and blessed her once more, with deep feeling, to have a complete recovery and much success.
When Mrs. Bitton returned home to Casablanca, she reported to her husband all that had transpired, including the additional blessing which I had conferred upon her. This got her husband worried. “If the Rav saw fit to bless you with a recovery, there is obviously a reason. I suggest we check this out,” he stated, and convinced her to see a doctor.
Various tests revealed a growth, still in its early stages. Mrs. Bitton immediately underwent treatment. With siyata di’Shemaya, the doctors succeeded in removing the growth completely.
There is no doubt that the merit of the tzaddik, Rabbi Chaim Pinto, zy”a, whose grave Mrs. Bitton had visited, stood her in good stead. I had the merit of being the agent who ensured that she went for testing, which led to her recovery. The family prepared a festive meal of thanksgiving in order to thank Hashem for His salvation. I was grateful to have had a part in the tremendous kiddush Hashem which resulted.
