The Most Trusted Treatment

The Most Trusted Treatment

A distraught woman once burst into my room. From the depths of her distress, she declared, “Harav, I will not leave until you promise me that my son will recover!!”

I asked her to tell me a bit about his illness and explain his medical prognosis. She explained everything in detail, adding that she had not yet mentioned anything about it to her parents.

I was surprised to hear this. “Why did you keep your son’s illness from your parents?” I wondered aloud, “They are able to provide you with moral support and share your pain.” But the woman merely responded, with pure, simple faith, “I have complete trust in Hashem. He will surely hearken to my prayers and bring my son back to perfect health. Why should I worry my parents unnecessarily?”

I was very touched by her words. I said, “Go home. With your unshakeable faith, pour out your heart before your Maker. Tell Him exactly what you just told me. I am certain that Hashem, in His great mercy, will accept your prayers and send your son a complete recovery.”

When a person lives with true faith and trust in the Creator, He comes to his salvation, as the pasuk in Tehillim (32:10) states, “As for one who trusts in Hashem, kindness surrounds him.”
