He would often wear two large <em>kippot<\/em>, or else one <em>kippah<\/em>, covered by a hat.<\/p>\n<p>When I was little, observing Father walking around the house with his hat on caused me to giggle. I was too young to appreciate the motivations behind this act.<\/p>\n<p>Once, I had the boldness to ask, \u201cFather, why do you insist on wearing a hat all day, when you can make do with two <em>kippot<\/em>?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTrue, the hat is heavy and uncomfortable,\u201d he replied, \u201cbut it reminds me of Hashem. The weight of the hat strengthens my <em>yirat Shamayim<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Father taught me that the purpose of a head-covering is to increase one\u2019s yirat Shamayim.
