I helped carry the bier. I felt that there were liquids in the coffin and asked the <em>chevrah kadisha <\/em>if this could be the case.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201c<\/em>Definitely,\u201d they replied. Since the body had been enclosed in the coffin for a year, it had turned into liquid. When they opened the casket, I found that they were right \u2013 the body had liquefied.<\/p>\n<p><em>I was shocked at how pained the neshamah must be on the state of the body after death.
